Porto's
former Customs House - Alfândega - now the Transports
Museum, was restored by a famous Portuguese architect
- Souto Moura, to host the VIII Iberian American Summit
of Heads of State in October 98. Beautifully located near
the Douro river mouth, its construction, by Jean F. G.
Colson, remotes to the second half of the 19th century
(1860). This absolutely unique structure of arhitectural
solution that includes stone arches and columns, iron
columns, brick vaults and heavy wooden structures is now
the most recent congress facility in the city centre.
The diversity of the rooms and space allows events of
small size and up to 1000 people in auditorium. |
