International recognition once again highlights the value of Porto and the North of Portugal, as Arouca Geopark secures the renewal of its designation as a UNESCO Global Geopark for another four years.

This distinction was formally confirmed in Paris, during the “Welcome Ceremony for Newly Designated and Revalidated UNESCO Global Geoparks and Certificate Handover”, held at UNESCO headquarters. The revalidation acknowledges the consistent work carried out across the territory, reflecting a strong commitment to heritage preservation, sustainable practices, and local development.

As one of our members, Arouca Geopark receiving this distinction is a true honour, reflecting the dedication and long-term vision of all those involved in the territory.

A meaningful milestone that reinforces the destination's international visibility and highlights the importance of long-term, sustainable development in Porto and the North of Portugal.
