Exploring Porto and the North through Virtuoso’s US Luxury Travel Network

#News #Fam Trip

A curated journey through Porto and the North of Portugal brought together key players from the North American luxury travel market, offering a first-hand perspective on the region’s diversity and authenticity.

Represented by Cátia Barbosa, Porto and North of Portugal - Convention & Visitors Bureau co-organised this familiarization trip alongside Virtuoso, Turismo Centro de Portugal, and Turismo de Portugal. The programme welcomed five tour operators and a representative from Virtuoso, reinforcing the importance of the U.S. market for high-end travel.

Over several days, participants explored a carefully curated itinerary across the region. In the Douro Valley, they enjoyed private boat cruises and wine tastings at renowned estates. In São João da Madeira, the focus shifted to industrial tourism, including a hands-on hat-making experience. In Vila Nova de Gaia and Porto, they discovered iconic landmarks through guided visits, a food walking tour, and a filigree workshop.

This initiative was made possible thanks to the contribution of our members: TempoVIP DMC, House of Filigree, Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia, Livraria Lello, Octant Douro, Pipadouro, Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, São João da Madeira Municipality, Six Senses Douro Valley, Taste Porto, The One Monumental Palace, The Yeatman, and Vinha Boutique Hotel.

By connecting directly with leading luxury travel advisors, this action continues to position Porto and the North of Portugal as a compelling destination for the North American market.
