Portugal is organising an International Forum for Education, Employment and Training in Tourism

Next Thursday, January 21s, the International Forum - Education, Employment and Training in Tourism will take place, on a digital platform, under the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union

The event organised starts at 8:30 am with an opening ceremony that will be attended by Pedro Siza Vieira, Minister of Economy and Digital Transition, Thierry Breton, European Commissioner for the European Union's internal market, Ana Mendes Godinho, Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security and Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization. 

The first panel “Education and Training in Tourism - How?” follows, with a speech by Carlos Moedas, Administrator of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation / Former European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, and a round table with national and international participants in the field of tourism. 

“Future trends in Tourism” is the title of the second panel that will start with a presentation on “The New Pact for Skills” by the European Commission, in the person of Slawomir Tokarski, Director of Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing at DG GROW. The panel also ends with a round table. 

The event ends with the intervention by the Portuguese Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Rita Marques, at the closing ceremony scheduled for 11:45 am. The complete programme can be found here and registrations can be made through this link

The event is organised by the Ministry of Economy and Digital Transition, regarding the Portuguese presidency of the Council of the European Union. Portugal takes on June 30th with the motto “Time to act: for a fair, green and digital recovery”. It is the fourth time that the country chairs the institution that represents the governments of the Member States and where ministers from each of the EU countries meet to adopt legislation and coordinate policies.
