Caves Fonseca will open a new visitor centre, shop and tasting room in Vila Nova de Gaia. The Taylor’s group company aims to create an educational and experience at the pace of each visitor.
Through a route across the 200 years of the brand's history, the visitor can travel to Quinta do Panascal, in the Douro valley, where wines are born, and follow the entire production process, including aging in mashing tubs and vats. The visit ends in the tasting room with a tasting of a Bin no. 27, one of the signature wines of the house, which can be paired with a board of cheeses or chocolates.
Port wine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to taste more than a dozen Vintage Ports, by the glass, in the tasting room, which will also function as a wine bar. In the same space, visitors will also be able to embark on four tasting experiences “Introduction to Fonseca”, “Vintages and Chocolate Experience”, “Vintages da Fonseca Experience” and “The Vintage Port Classics of Fonseca”.
The new venues of Caves Fonseca, located in the historic centre of the city, will also have a programme for the little ones. Through educational activities, children are invited to learn about the history of Port Wine, on a visit that ends with a tasting of grape juice and cookies.
