This week, at Fundação de Serralves, Porto and North of Portugal - Convention & Visitors Bureau brought together its members in General Assembly for the approval of the Association’s Annual Report and Financial Statements for the 2025 financial year, a key moment of accountability, alignment and shared vision.
The session highlighted the strong performance of Porto and the North of Portugal between 2019 and 2025. Over this period, the region consistently outperformed the national average across all key tourism indicators, with particularly strong growth in international demand. Overnight stays by international visitors increased by more than 40%, reinforcing the destination’s competitiveness in higher‑value markets.
Beyond volume, one message stood out clearly: the destination is growing more in value than in quantity. Tourism revenues increased at a faster pace than guest numbers, confirming a sustained trajectory of qualification, diversification, and value creation.
Members were also briefed on strategic priorities and ongoing work, including international promotion, air connectivity, market diversification, and the role of major events as drivers of visibility and long‑term legacy. Preparations are already underway for a strong calendar ahead, with initiatives such as Air Invictus, the Babell Literary Festival, and The Ocean Race Summit further strengthening the region’s international positioning.
The General Assembly unanimously approved the Annual Report and Financial Statements for 2025, reflecting sound financial management, strong project execution and institutional stability.
The session concluded with a formal vote of recognition to Nuno Botelho, President of the General Assembly Board, acknowledging his dedication, leadership, and contribution to the Association over the years.
The General Assembly reaffirmed its full confidence in the leadership headed by Luís Pedro Martins, who has been guiding the Association's direction for the past two terms, with a clear strategic direction and a strong collective commitment to the continued positioning of Porto and the North of Portugal as a competitive, sustainable, and value‑driven destination.
