Northern Portugal is the region with more "Clean & Safe" stamps in Portugal, advanced this Thursday, the Regional Entity Porto and North that also said that there are already new reserves.

The largest number of health stamps awarded by the Portuguese Tourism is in the companies of the sector located in the North of Portugal. The label has been awarded not only to restaurant and hotel companies but also to museums, tourist entertainment companies, local accommodation.

Luís Pedro Martins, in an interview with Agência Lusa, guarantees, however, that obtaining the seal is not enough, that the essential thing is to guarantee the hygiene and safety conditions to receive visitors in the context of a global pandemic. And, he adds, the North is "prepared to receive tourists safely".

"Our entrepreneurs are investing heavily to ensure maximum safety for their customers" and "with great creativity" said the President of Turismo do Porto e Norte. The offer of individual protection kits, the reduction of maximum capacity, the reordering of spaces and the bet on room service are some of the measures that are being implemented. The "common goal is not to leave any doubt to the customer about the issue of safety," he added.

With the National Defining Plan in motion, the region of Porto and Norte is already beginning to have demand and registers an increase in the number of reservations. The territories of low density, which previously registered less demand, are now privileged by tourists who seek "security, tranquility and privacy", said the responsible.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Northern region had been the least affected in terms of booking cancellations. And so far, no contamination has been recorded in tourist structures in the North. Luís Pedro Martins assures that this was due to the rapid implementation of contingency plans mainly by the hotel sector and believes that this will be an advantage for a rapid recovery of the industry.
