Last week, Delta Air Lines, with the support of Porto and North of Portugal - Convention & Visitors Bureau, hosted a cocktail event to present the new direct route between New York JFK and Porto, a significant milestone in strengthening transatlantic connectivity.
Taking place at Angel’s Share, WOW, the event brought together around 80 stakeholders from across the tourism and aviation sectors, including travel agencies, airline representatives, and institutional partners.
The session opened with welcome remarks by Manuela Azevedo, representing WOW as host of the event. Key contributions followed from Ilse Janssens, Delta GM EMEA Sales, Miguel Mota, AFKL PT Sales Manager, Karen Strougo, CCO of ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal, and Luís Pedro Martins, President of Porto and North of Portugal – Convention & Visitors Bureau, all highlighting the strategic importance of this new connection.
More than a celebratory moment, the initiative aimed to introduce the route to key industry players and reinforce its role in enhancing accessibility from one of the most relevant long-haul markets.
Set to launch on May 22, 2026, the New York JFK–Porto route represents a significant step in expanding transatlantic accessibility and reinforcing Porto and the North of Portugal as a competitive destination in the global tourism landscape.
