Porto and the North of Portugal has been recognised as the "Best Tourism Region" at the Portugal Travel Awards by Publituris 2026, announced this weekend in Vilamoura.
This distinction reflects the collective effort of a destination that continues to deliver outstanding results and contribute to tourism growth in Portugal. In 2025, Porto and the North consolidated its leadership in domestic tourism and recorded growth above the national average across most key indicators. The region was responsible for 90% of Portugal’s net growth in international demand, while international overnight stays grew 5.7 times above the national average.
Luís Pedro Martins, President of Porto and North of Portugal - Convention & Visitors Bureau, dedicated the recognition to the tourism companies, municipalities, and teams that have helped shape the region’s success through a shared vision and long-term commitment to attracting more and better visitors.
Our sincere thanks to Publituris for this recognition, to Visit Portugal and its teams around the world for their continued partnership, and to our colleagues from the other Regional Tourism Boards, whose daily work contributes to the success and competitiveness of Portugal as a destination.
Most importantly, thank you to all our members, partners and stakeholders who continue to play a vital role in positioning Porto and the North of Portugal among the leading tourism destinations in Europe.
