Porto and the North of Portugal connects with the Japanese market at Tourism EXPO Japan

#News #International Fairs

Continuing our journey across Asia, Porto and North of Portugal - Convention & Visitors Bureau headed to Tokyo for Tourism EXPO Japan, held from 24 to 27 September. This year’s edition welcomed more than 183K visitors and brought together more than 1.4K companies and organisations from 74 countries and 46 regions across Japan.

Represented by Cátia Barbosa, Leisure Department Coordinator at Porto and North of Portugal - Convention & Visitors Bureau, our participation took place within the framework of COMPETE 2030 and combined two days dedicated to the travel trade with two days focused on the general public.

During the trade days, we held meetings with around 20 Japanese buyers, who showed significant interest in Portugal. Several reported growing demand from clients for mono-destination programmes entirely focused on Portugal.

Over the two public days, we connected directly with Japanese travellers through destination presentations and conversations at our stand. Many visitors were already planning a trip to Portugal, while others shared their experiences from previous visits to Porto and the North.

Contributing to the success of this initiative, four of our members joined us in Tokyo: Conservas Pinhais, HF Hotels, Media Travel & Logistics, and WOW. Thank you for being part of this important promotional action in the Japanese market.
