Building connections with the South Korean travel trade was central to our latest promotional action in Seoul. In September, Porto and North of Portugal - Convention & Visitors Bureau took part in the Visit Portugal Travel Trade Marketplace, represented by Cátia Barbosa, Director of the Leisure Department.
The programme combined a destination presentation, a networking lunch and a workshop, where we held 21 meetings with leading travel trade professionals, particularly from Seoul and Busan. These meetings provided an important platform to showcase the destination, develop new business contacts and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
The event, attended by the Portuguese Ambassador to South Korea, Vanda Sequeira, brought together Visit Portugal, its team in South Korea, and the regional tourism boards of Center of Portugal and Alentejo, with our participation taking place within the framework of COMPETE (SIAC).
The importance of this market is also reflected in the latest tourism data: South Korea is among the Top 15 international markets for overnight stays in the North of Portugal, generating approximately 114,58K overnight stays between January and July 2026, a 25.3% increase compared with the same period in 2025.
Contributing to the success of this initiative, five of our members joined us in Seoul: Conservas Pinhais, HF Hotels, Media Travel & Logistics, The Yeatman, and WOW.
