AirHelp ranking recognises Porto Airport as the best in Portugal and one of the best in Europe

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport is the best-ranked airport in Portugal in the 2022 ranking of the company that protects air passengers’ rights, AirHelp, also occupying the top 10 of the best airports in Europe.

AirHelp has already released its usual annual ranking, which lists the best and worst airports and airlines in the world. In this AirHelp Score 2022, Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport obtained a overall score of 7.67 points out of a possible 10.

Porto Airport is, therefore, the best rated airport in Portugal in this ranking, also occupying the seventh position in Europe and 54th position worldwide.

According to the president of Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal, Luís Pedro Martins, this is “excellent news for the region”.

“In addition to being excellent news for the region, this recognition also supports the strengthening of our air connectivity. Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport is an infrastructure with a lot of quality and a lot of growth potential and it deserves to be invested in, as we have seen by the investment of many international airlines.”

According to the company that protects the air passengers’ rights, Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport showed “the fifth biggest increase compared to 2019, mainly due to the better improved ‘punctuality’”.

Porto Airport got a score of 7.10 points in the 'punctuality', 8.52 points in the 'customer opinion' and 8.53 points in the 'quality of the restaurants and shops’.

It should be recalled that, in 2022, this airport had already been honoured with the “Best European Airport 2022” award, in the 10-25 million passengers category, by the Airport Council International (ACI).
