Sistelo has been nominated as one of the best Hidden Gems in Europe for the year 2020 by the European Best Destination website.

At a time when people are looking for alternatives to the most popular destinations, the European Best Destinations website has published the list of the best unknown places in Europe. In the list of suggestions, Sistelo appears in fifth place, in a ranking that also includes the islands of Flores and Faial, in the Azores, the Islet of Vila Franca do Campo, on the island of S. Miguel, also in the Azores Archipelago, Odeceixe, in Algarve, Santana and Porto Santo, in the archipelago of Madeira, Coimbra and Sintra.

Sistelo, also known as the Portuguese Little Tibet, is a small parish in the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez with about 300 inhabitants. Located near the National Park of Peneda Gerês, and about 1.5 hours drive from Porto, Sistelo is also considered one of the 7 Wonders of Portugal.

Among the suggestions of what to do in Sistelo, the European Best Destinations highlight the viewpoint "Chá da Armada", which offers the best perspective of the terraces characteristic of that small parish, and a walk along the M1289 to Padrão and Porta Cova, also viewpoints. For hiking lovers, the "Brandas de Sistelo" trail is recommended, a small trail of 11km through nature. For history lovers, they recommend a visit to Sistelo Castle.
