Industrial Tourism in São João da Madeira won the National Tourism Award in the "Innovative Tourism" category.

The National Tourism Awards winners, organized by Expresso and BPI, in partnership with Turismo de Portugal and Deloitte, were revealed this Wednesday, highlighting excellence in Portuguese tourism.

Industrial Tourism in São João da Madeira awarded the "Innovative Tourism" Award, is the first in Portugal to offer guided tours of operational factories. Visitors explore the region’s rich industrial heritage through interactive workshops and visits to museums in rehabilitated industrial buildings. With 11 manufacturing companies, two footwear support centers, and two industrial museums, it sets a benchmark for sustainable tourism, blending culture, education, and innovation.

Another highlight from this year’s National Tourism Awards is Bernardo Trindade, administrator of Porto Bay Group and President of the Strategic Council for Porto and the North of Portugal Tourism Board, being awarded the "Personality Award". This recognition reflects his visionary leadership and impactful contributions to the growth and excellence of Portugal’s tourism industry.
