Porto and North of Portugal with several winners in the European edition of the World Travel Awards 2022

The city of Porto, Passadiços do Paiva and the Vila Galé Collection Braga hotel were three of the European winners of the 29th edition of the World Travel Awards, whose award ceremony took place, on October 1st, in Palma de Mallorca (Spain).

Last October 1st, the winners of Europe’s edition of the World Travel Awards 2022 were announced, in what are called the Oscars of the Travel Industry, and Portugal has won thirty awards, with highlight to the accolade of Europe's Leading Destination.

With regard to our region, the city of Porto won in the “Europe's Leading City Destination” category, in which it was competing alongside cities such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, ​​Berlin, Geneva, Lisbon, London, Lyon, Rome, Venice and Vienna.

In turn, the Passadiços do Paiva [Paiva Walkways], in Arouca, won for the first time in the “Europe's Leading Tourist Attraction” category, in addition to the “Europe's Leading Adventure Tourist Attraction”, won for the fifth consecutive time.

The hotel Vila Galé Collection Braga also won in the “Europe's Leading Landmark Hotel” category.

In the Portugal’s edition of the World Travel Awards, three hotels in the region were also awarded: Hilton Porto Gaia (“Portugal's Leading City Hotel”), Sheraton Porto Hotel & Spa (“Portugal's Leading Conference Hotel”) and Boeira Garden Hotel Porto Garden, Curio Collection by Hilton (“Portugal's Leading Design Hotel”).

Also known as the Oscars of the Travel Industry, the World Travel Awards, founded in 1993, are one of the most prestigious international awards in the field of tourism, rewarding, among others, cities, regions, countries, hotels, resorts, airlines and tour operators from all over the world.
