“The Majestic Adventures of Ofelia de Souza” awarded with Gold at Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards 2022

After recently being awarded at the Zagreb TourFilm Festival, the promotional film “The Majestic Adventures of Ofelia de Souza” received a Gold Dolphin Trophy at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards 2022.

This Wednesday, October 19th, the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards festival announced the winners of its 13th edition, in an online ceremony. Among the awardees is “The Majestic Adventures of Ofelia de Souza”, which received the Gold Dolphin Trophy in the “Tourism Products” category.

For Luís Pedro Martins, President of Porto and North of Portugal Tourism Board “this award is the culmination of all the international recognition that this film has achieved during this year. Porto and North of Portugal thus prove to be an excellent cinematic setting and one that can be explored in all segments and products. This international recognition is exceptionally precious as it accompanies the achievement of several international goals, both in terms of reputational growth in the Meeting Industry and in attracting major international business events.”

The Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards has been a member of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) since 2010 and, therefore, is also part of the CIFFT Circuit, which brings together tourism film festivals from around the world.

This year, the segment dedicated to tourism films had five new categories - “Destination Cities”, “Regions”, “Countries”, “Products” and “Services”- with 23 productions from 15 countries having been awarded.

Launched in October last year, the film produced by Kobu Agency stars Ofelia de Souza, an experienced 72-year-old event planner and epicurean who, alongside her personal assistants Ofelier and Ofeliette, shares tips and secrets for choosing and enjoying the Porto and North region, one of the best business tourism destinations in the world.

All the character’s costumes and interactions refer to products and sites representative of the design, culture, industry and fashion of the region, in a film that intends to show that the destination has what is needed for organising major events.

This campaign, which will continue in 2023, reinforces the commitment to position the region as a leading destination in the MICE area and, this year alone, it has already won awards at the Kiez Berlin Film Festival (“Best First Time Director”), Japan World's Tourism Film Festival (“Grand Prix” and first place in the category “Tourism Products - MICE”), New York Festivals TV & Film Awards (Gold Trophy in the category “Corporate Image – Tourism”), International Tourism Film Festival Africa (Grand Prix ​​in the category “Tourism International” and Gold Award in the category “Tourism Products”), Terres Travel Festival (Gold Award in the category “Tourism Products – MICE”) and Zagreb TourFilm Festival (“Best Event Film”).
