Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal, last Friday, won six awards at the ART&TUR International Tourism Film Festival, with its promotional films “The Majestic Adventures of Ofelia de Souza” and “Porto & North are Awaking”.

Last Friday, Teatro Municipal de Ourém hosted the awards ceremony of the 15th edition of the ART&TUR International Tourism Film Festival, which took place from 25 to 28 October.

The promotional film “The Majestic Adventures of Ofelia de Souza” was the most awarded film of the evening, taking home five awards: the “Grand Prix” in the national and international competitions, the “Best Promotional Film ART&TUR 2022” and the first award in the “MICE” category in both competitions.

The sixth award for Turismo do Porto e Norte belongs to the promotional film “Porto & North are Awaking”, which won the first award in the “Destinos Turísticos” [Tourist Destinations] category in the national competition.

Among the list of winners are also other institutions of the region, such as Côa Parque Foundation (three awards), Quinta da Pacheca (two awards), the municipality of Bragança (two awards), ADRIMAG (two awards), Comunidade Intermunicipal das Terras de Trás-os-Montes (one award), the municipality of Viana do Castelo (one award) and the company Naturthoughts - Turismo de Natureza (one award).

For Luís Pedro Martins, president of Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal, this was “another unforgettable day for the region, which, in total, won 18 awards in this Portuguese festival”.

“The entire team at Turismo do Porto e Norte is to be congratulated, as well as our partner agencies KOBU and CAETSU and the other entities in the region that were also awarded”, he adds.

This year, the ART&TUR International Tourism Film Festival, organised by the Centro de Portugal Film Commission (CPFC) with the support of Turismo do Centro de Portugal and Ourém City Hall, had 208 entrants from 31 countries. Since 2008, this festival has been part of the CIFFT Circuit, which brings together tourism film festivals from around the world.

It is important to mention that the sum of points won by the film “The Majestic Adventures of Ofelia de Souza”, all awarded by international juries, positions it as a strong contender for the award of best film in the world, in its category, remaining the award ceremony of the festival in Valencia, which will take place on November 24th.
